as far as l know, Artest agreed to the Laker is MLE. which is not a lot, around 5.5mil.. he effectively took a pay cut just to play for the Lakers because he made 7+ mil last year with the rockets. l dont think they will go over the cap too much after they do sign Odom.

If u look at total team salary, the Lakers have been below the Knicks, Cavs & several other teams. They have been able to do a good job of keeping their star players & mixing in several role players who do not make that much. The Cavs paid like $14,000,000 to Wally & Ben was their highest paid player. Compare that to Pau & Odom & look at the quality difference for the money. That is part of the reason that they r champions & the Cavs came up a little short. As much as l like Lamar, l think that the Lakers now have to look at him & ask if he can become more consistent since they r paying Andrew so much now. l hope that Artest can add some mental toughness to both of them.
